Thoughts on Thursdays

We are changing our roundtable approach to include all rope practitioners of all skill and interest levels! We invite all rope tops, bottoms and curious parties to join together to discuss a topic and share your perspective. This will occur every 2nd Thursdays of the month.

The evening will begin with the groups splitting into 2, tops and bottoms where you will get to share and hear the views of those in the same role, after which we will gather all together to share the perspective of the other group.

Our hope is this new format will allow everyone to ponder their own experience, share that with others and be illuminated on the approach that the other role has. Our hope is that you walk away with increased confidence in your own practice and your relationship to rope and with your own partners present and future.

Get to know the people in our community and learn more about who they are, how they feel about rope, what draws them to it and what their process is.

Thoughtful topic this month: ATTRACTION

• When do you feel attractive in rope? What attracts to you a person that makes you want to do rope with them?

• Is it the body shape? The face? The outfit?

• Is it the way they carry themselves? Is it outside of rope or while they are doing rope?

• Is it the way they behave or respond when you see them do rope?

• Perhaps it’s is felt in some positions in rope and not in others?

• Come explore your own feelings when it comes to how certain things feel attractive to us and how varying these answers can be for every individual.

Veers and Violet are partners who switch in rope and practice power exchange.

Veers (he/him)

Veers has been in and out of the kink scene for the last 10 years. Always having an affinity for bondage, he found his way into the community and through his relationship with Violet, really began to explore Shibari, at first from an explorative perspective and now as a practicing rope top and bottom. He feels that for one to truly understand how rope affects each person involved, one must observe, develop the skills of tying and also the experience of being tied. He sees rope as a relational experience where connection and emotion are developed between the top, the bottom and the rope itself.

He has been a part of multiple workshops locally as well as in Chicago and has completed Naka 1 in Prague taught by Wildties/Redsabbath. He's very grateful to be one of the founders of BLRS.

Violet (she/they)

Violet found rope early in her journey back in 2015. Unlike other kinks, it touched her in unexpected and transformative ways. She considers it these days to be an intentional and intimate dialogue between two people. She is passionate about self-reflection and an open-minded approach to exploration and a safe approach to challenging your edge.

As a bottom, she has attended as well as taught workshops, intensives and private classes. She has learned from a wide range from styles throughout the world, including Naka Akira, Iroha Shizuki, Kanna and Kagura, KinbabuLuxuria, Tenma Haru and Reika, Gorgone, Subay/Naoko, Mynx and Atelier Simonet. .She has taught several introductory rope classes and enjoys incorporating dominance in her play.
